The following is the selection criteria for the Bafokeng Foundry.
Entrepreneurs (including aspiring entrepreneurs) or businesses that are part of the Royal Bafokeng Nation. This also includes Bafokeng in the diaspora.
Entrepreneurs or businesses with ideas that can use technology to improve their product or service (a business does not have to be using technology when they enter the programme – part of the programme will guide in how best to use tech).
18 years and above.
We will consider great ideas and existing start-ups & businesses that are solving RBN problems.
Business ideas that are commercial in nature.
Business ideas that have the potential to succeed in the identified market.
Business ideas that have the potential to grow in a profitable manner.
Candidate Requirements
Entrepreneurs that live in the Royal Bafokeng Nation villages or Bafokeng who are part of the diaspora.
Entrepreneurs committed to high levels of integrity.
Entrepreneurs that are deeply passionate about their business idea and solving problems.
Entrepreneurs that are hard-working and resilient.
Entrepreneurs committed to high performance, continuous learning and excellence.
Entrepreneurs that seek to better understand innovation and its impact.
Entrepreneurs committed to creating real world solutions.
Entrepreneurs who are open to receiving and considering feedback from others.
Entrepreneurs who are not afraid to be held accountable.
Ambitious entrepreneurs that are pursuing scale and growth.
Entrepreneurs that can work well both independently and in a team.
Entrepreneurs that are intentional in their pursuit of both personal and business growth.
Required Documentation for Application
As part of the application, the following documentation will need to be uploaded:
Business idea outlining the problem to be addressed and the solution to the problem.
Details on entrepreneur, entrepreneur’s business background story, and motivation for applying.
CIPC registration if you have an existing business (for clarity: you can still apply even if no existing business).
Copy of Identity Document.
A document that shows you are either Bafokeng (letter of Kgosana) or you live in the RBN (proof of residence).
